Freelancing at various places really helps me pick up various skills and online tricks, - seen here for Fletchers and Manukau Building. At Apollo Marketing Design I remember teaching myself flash (tutorials in my lunch break) to roll out the DB Breweries account storyboards
I had created.
A Port Design Group Auckland Transport campaign that included powerful bus backs.
A GOLD BECON AWARD (CAANZ) for the best use of Media in ‘Out of Home’ category for the Nokia Account back in 2006.
…And whist at Stanley St (Ogilvy) my copywriter and I worked with senior creatives Tom & James on their Award winning L&P campaign shown below*.
Such fun creating and rolling out the launch of the Megamind movie - equipped with a competition idea that the kids loved! The team at Apollo Marketing Design were vital to the success of the Website, Packaging, Icecream stick design and App design.
Whether it is a EDM Campaign for Tamaki Regeneration or a tricky dicky fold, die, signage or illustration (seen here)- I love Graphic Design!
It has such variety and skill - you are always constantly learning (and developing good relations with your printer rep)!
I’ve also got quite good at photo retouching over the years, from trendy Album designs, to a Cocacola splash (that needed to be added) to a complex reindeer multiplication job!
The most famous logo brand development I did was ‘RESIDE’ for the The Warehouse Group - it stepped out across 10,000 of their furniture home range.
My most proudest logo was tweaking Phil Duster Brown original ‘FREESET’ logo from a NGO that helps woman get out of the slave-trade by making bags and Tees.
I could retiree early I reckon with all the social conscious work I do Ngāmotu Cohousing Community, and one my daughter likes - ‘The Little Digger Company’..
I’ve had the privilege of working with the most amazing photographers writing briefs/story boards for them. We had an awesome in-house Photography team whilst working at The Warehouse Group. An average day -meant constantly popping downstairs to sign off scamps/storyboards for mailers/videos/ads, picking ‘talent selects’ or working with our amazing stylist to get that ‘money’ shot.
Whilst at Apollo Marketing Design the team and I worked on creating a competition concept where these three winning bottles were seeded into a 12/15 pack of Heineken.
#Promotional packaging #Packaging design of bottles #Packaging design #Competition Website #POS poster
Esk Valley Villa Maria Wine bottle work with a CocaCola invitation creation -the bottom pocket was a tricky die job which task was to hold a steel business card holder.
Such fun concepting up junogin.com seasonal bottle design ideas and ‘Honey’ so many honey label designs for Taranaki Bees 🐝 !
Whilst working at Bettle Advertising I worked with client Livestock Improvement and did in-house Freelancing work for Auckland Transport. The DB Breweries account provided a huge range of spreads, Annual reports, Cook books and regular publications such as the MENZA Magazine TUNE ME IN ( flick through on ISSUU below)!
I worked with a very talented team at the The Warehouse Group helping to roll out 2018 ‘Photography & Digital Style Guide,’ the new ‘look & feel’ website to what their family of EDMs were to look like.
My favourite piece whilst at Apollo Marketing Design for Bancott Estate was an interactive infographic vine I created- the butterflies fluttered their wings and everything!
And at the bottom whilst at VMLY&R /Mediaedge CIA as a Media Planner/Buyer we came up with this amazing interactive game idea for Nokia, and later a game concept for Jack Daniels.
Apollo Marketing Design, The Warehouse and Trio is where I did most of my POS 3D mock ups for various clients - I got quite good at it!
Working at The Warehouse Group with their agency DDB we rolled out numerous campaigns- the biggest- Christmas every year!
The ‘What Kiwis Want’ 2013 campaign’ was the campaign I was most proud of! Its aim was to attract ‘lapsed’ Warehouse shoppers, without alienating the loyal base.
I lead the way with the ‘Look & feel’ of the 180 press Ad’s/120 Mailers concepts & POS executions. Since this transformation, The Warehouse reversed the 2008 post recession downward trend seeing period-on-period growth for the last nine consecutive quarters, with sales growing to $1.55 billion.
Whilst working at Bettle Advertising I worked on Wintec campaigns and at The Warehouse, coming up with headlines/copy (along with the artwork) as it was a prerequisite. Seeing initial concept creation through to final development on campaigns, is something I have learnt to love with years in busy studios and advertising agencies.
